Mary C. Deranleau

October 19, 1916 - May 11, 2006

Mary Catherine Lauterbach Deranleau, daughter of Joseph J. Lauterbach and Alice M. Russell Lauterbach, was born October 19, 1916 in Redwood Falls, Minnesota and died May 11, 2006 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa at the age of 89 years, 6 months and 24 days. Mary grew up in Redwood Falls, graduating from Redwood Falls High School. She received her BA degree from the College at St. Teresa in Winona, Minnesota and attended graduate school at Fordham University in New York City. While a social worker in Minnesota, she married Robert Francis Deranleau on June 10, 1944 in Minneapolis. In 1949, they moved to Perry, Iowa where Dr. Deranleau established his medical practice and they raised ten children. In addition to her family, Mary enjoyed gardening, crafts, sewing and music. Mary was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Perry and the Dallas County Hospital Auxiliary. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers and one sister. She is survived by her ten children: Mary Jo (Nathan) Dillingham of Omaha, NE; Barbara Kraus (Peter Santorineous) of Aurora, IL; Nancy Deranleau (Doug Hamilton), Margaret Conrad and Carol (Richard) Fry, all of Ankeny, IA; Susan Deranleau (Steve) Silveira of Morgan Hill, CA; Ginger Lynch of Toronto, Canada; Lisa (Joseph) Deranleau-Urban of Rolling Meadows, IL; Robert (Shonda) Deranleau of Creston, IA and Richard (Zae) Deranleau of San Jose, CA; 23 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
