Inez C. Hargett

August 22, 1919 - December 8, 2008

Inez Cora Hargett, daughter of George E. Horton and Tula Francis Horton, was born August 22, 1919 in Glidden, Iowa and died December 8, 2008 at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson, Iowa at the age of 89 years, 3 months and 16 days. Inez was raised in Glidden with her two brothers and graduated from Glidden High School. She married Harry Hargett on January 10, 1943 in Lompoc, California. They were parents of four children: Deborah, Cynthia, Terry, and John. Inez lived in California while Harry was overseas and then they moved to Kansas after his discharge. In 1949 the family moved to acreage south of Glidden, then to Ralston in 1951, and finally in 1975 moved to Jefferson. Inez had been a phone operator in Ralston for several years, a retail clerk, a newspaper reporter and typist, and finally worked the reservation desk at the Redwood Motel. She enjoyed meeting many people through her work. Inez also enjoyed birds, gardening, cards, and her friends. Her memberships included the First Baptist Church in Jefferson, the Ralston United Methodist Church and the Ralston Women's Club. Inez was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harry on November 30, 1991 and brothers George Jr. and Pete Horton. Inez is survived by two daughters: Deborah Stuhr and husband Mark of Omaha, Nebraska; Cynthia Drake and husband Larry of Chino, California; two sons: Terry Hargett of Keizer, Oregon; John Hargett and wife Barbara of Bates City, Missouri; seven grandchildren: Vanessa Hargett; Phillip Hargett; Andrew Hargett; Lori Lundholm and husband Bob; Eric Stuhr; Shannon Mead and husband Chris; and Mike Drake; one great-grandson Ryan Mead; cousin Raymond Francis; sister-in-law Dila Doeskin of Florida; other relatives and friends. www.hastingsfh.com 515-386-8181 [email protected]
