Ed Schilling

Edward George Schilling, son of George Emerson Schilling and Esther Lavon Ritter Schilling, was born January 1, 1924 north of Jefferson, Iowa and died February 6, 2009 at Regency Park Nursing and Rehab in Jefferson, Iowa at the age of 85 years, 1 month and 5 days. Ed, as he was fondly known, graduated from Jefferson High School in 1940. On August 17, 1947, he was united in marriage with Gertrude Weiss. They were parents of one daughter Peg. Ed was a farmer and worked in sales. He also had worked for years in carpentry, and laid floor covering . Ed was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed golf and playing cards. He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers, Ward, Dean, Marvin, and Harold. Ed is survived by his daughter Peg Christians and husband Jack of Brentwood, TN; 2 granddaughters, Sarah Jamison and husband Christopher of Birmingham, AL; Trisha Sullivan and husband Trevor of Franklin, TN; and his pride and joy, great grandson Ethan Sullivan. He is also survived by his sister, Leora Davis of Jefferson, Iowa; sisters-in-law Linda Schilling of Jefferson, IA; and Helen Schilling of Northboro, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
