Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 31, 2022 at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry with visitation starting one hour prior to the service. Delores Vivian Hambleton of Perry passed away on Thursday, January 27th at the age of 87. She was born on September 7, 1934 in Jamaica, Iowa to Clayton Raymond Hambleton and Anna Cecil (James) Hambleton. Delores attended school in Dawson, Jamaica, and Perry, graduating with the Perry High School class of 1951. She enjoyed working before and after school at King's Daughter's Hospital during her senior year. She married Theodore Richard Kyras on November 11, 1951 at the First Christian Church in Perry. Delores loved helping people and worked 23 years in senior facilities or for in-home care providers, including seven years at the Perry Lutheran Home and fourteen years at the Rowley Masonic Home in various positions, including night cook, dining room aide and baker/salad maker. Her specialty was cookies where she baked over 10,000 in one year alone. In her spare time, her passion was handcrafting items for others: quilts for World Service; newborn hats for the Guthrie, Boone, and Green County hospitals; bibs for nursing homes and crocheted blankets for Mercy Hospital's Neonatal Unit in Des Moines. And of course, baking cookies (and rice crispy bars) to take to friends, family, and nursing homes. Delores was a member of the Perry Christian Church in her youth where she was baptized by Pastor Gary Freeland and later attended the First United Methodist Church in Perry as an adult. She was active in the church through their women's groups. She is survived by her son Richard Kyras and his wife Sheri and grandson Nick of Ames, Iowa. Nephews Bob and Bill Bennett of Perry; Dennis Hambleton of Florida; and David Hambleton and Diane Poirier of Eldridge, Iowa. Additionally, numerous grandnephews: Jason, Brenda and Deb Bennett. She was proceeded in death by her husband, as well as her sister and brother, Cora and Dallas Bennett.
