Hastings Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Cecilio Mena-Mejia, 53, of Perry. Cecilio died September 3, 2019 at his home. Visitation will be held after 1:00 p.m. Thursday September 5, 2019 at Hastings Funeral Home with family present from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Following the visitation will be a Vigil Service at 7:00. Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at St Patrick Catholic Church in Perry with burial immediately following at the Violet Hill Cemetery. Cecilio Mena-Mejía, hijo de Carlos Magno Mejía y Clara Mena, nació el 24 de marzo de 1966 en El Salvador y murió el 3 de septiembre de 2019 en su casa en Perry, Iowa, a la edad de 53 años. Cecilio Mena-Mejia, son of Carlos Magno Mejia and Clara Mena, was born March 24, 1966 in El Salvador and died September 3, 2019 at his home in Perry, Iowa at the age of 53. Cecilio moved to the United States in 1986 and lived in California, then in 1992 he moved to Perry, Iowa. He worked at Tyson for 25 years as a Case Sealer Operator. He loved working on cars, welding, being a mechanic and even mowing his yard. Cecilio and Maria Cleofas Ortiz were united in marriage on February 12, 2013 in El Salvador. He was a member of the St Patrick Catholic Church in Perry. Cecilio was preceded in death by his mother Clara Mena. Cecilio is survived by his wife Maria, four sons: Erick Mendez (Liliana), Manolo Mendez (Veronica), Saul Mendez and Yordi Mena all of Perry; five grandchildren: Erick Damian, Alejandro, Jowell, Alondra and Arabella; father Carlos Mejia of El Salvador; two brohers Orlando Mena (Julia) of Perry and Felipe Mena (Graciela) of California; seven sisters: Teresa Robles (Jose) of Perry, Olivia Turcios (Glen) of El Salvador, Rosa Mena of El Salvador, Guadalupe Barladez (Eliazar) of North Carolina, Gloria Mena (Melkin) of El Salvador, Josefina Bermudez (Ismael) of Des Moines and Santos Marroquin (Francisco) of California; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
