Albert Jenkins

Arthur Albert Jenkins, the son of Arthur Reginald Jenkins and Agnes Elizabeth Muir Jenkins, was born March 13, 1921, in Sebeka, Minnesota, and died Friday, June 26, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Services were held at 1:00 p.m.Tuesday, June 30 at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry. Burial was in Violet Hill Cemetery. Pastor Charles Compton of Perry Bible Church offered words of comfort and Jan Pattee provided the music. Special selections were "Just a Closer Walk with Thee" and " Life's Railway to Heaven". Robin Hermann read the Rail Road Hymn and memories were shared by Bill Jenkins and the family. Honorary casket bearers were Robin Hermann, Monica Wright, Will Jenkins, September Jenkins, Matt Jenkins, Corey Jenkins, Tanaya Jenkins, William Jenkins and Trinity Jenkins. Albert lived most of his life in and around Perry. As a child, he grew up on a farm north of Perry, but moved into town when he began working for the Milwaukee Road in 1946. He worked for the railroad until 1980, when the trains stopped running. He also served in the United States Navy as an aviation machinist during World War II. He was stationed for part of his service in Corpus Christi, Texas, where he met and married his beloved wife, Mary Ann. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Mary Ann. He is survived by his two children, Pamela Jenkins and her husband Edmund LaTour of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Bill Jenkins and partner Barbara Liebler of Fort Collins, Colorado; five grandchildren, Robin Hermann and his wife Monica Wright of Lafayette, Louisiana, Will Jenkins and his wife September of Fort Collins, Colorado, Matt and Corey Jenkins of Santa Monica, California and Tanaya Jenkins of San Diego, California. He is also survived by two great grandchildren William and Trinity Jenkins of Fort Collins, Colorado; two brothers, Bill and Ed Jenkins of Perry, Iowa; two sisters Margaret Ann Huygens of Mason City, Iowa and Henrietta Hewitt of Rochester, Minnesota; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Albert spent nearly every morning since retirement at the community center in Perry, therefore, memorials are respectfully suggested in Albert's name to the McCreary Community Center, 1800 Pattee Street, Perry, Iowa.
